Sir Alex Ferguson: ‘Newcastle is just a wee club’

Sir Alex Ferguson has launched an attack on Alan Pardew, who crticised the United manager for his treatment of referee Mike Dean.

“That’s unfortunate but I’m the manager of the most famous club in the world. I’m not at Newcastle, a wee club in the north-east. But that’s a fact of life.

“I was demonstrative, but I was not out of order. But that’s the way I am. I’m an emotional guy.

“Some managers [Pardew] shove linesmen on the pitch and make a joke of it. I’m not making a joke of it. It was a serious decision and I think the goal should have been disallowed.

“The problem for me and Manchester United is that the profile of the club is huge.”

Williams responds to Fergie

Absolute Football understands that Ashley Williams has responded to Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, who claimed that he deliberately aimed the ball at Robin Van Persie.

Van Persie was lying on the ground after being tackled, when Ashley Williams kicked the ball at his head from point-blank range.

“He should be banned by the FA. Robin could have had a broken neck.” Ferguson informed the BBC.

“With the Van Persie situation, you can clearly see that he could have been killed.”

Responding to this Ashley Williams, 28, said: “that’s his opinion, everyone’s gonna have their own opinion.”

“I kicked the ball in frustration i’m obviously not trying to hit him square on the head.”

“I understand exactly why he’s angry, i’d be the same if the ball hit me on the head at that pace.”

QPR manager Harry Redknappspeaking ahead of his side’s Boxing Day clash with West Bromwich Albion, disagreed with Sir Alex Ferguson: “I don’t see how he was going to be killed.

“He kicked the ball at him. I have seen worse things on a football pitch.”

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, was more understanding of Ferguson’s comments: “I think the one with Van Persie was perhaps not as bad as Alex at first imagined. Sometimes from the sideline, it looks a lot worse at the time.”
